There is Nothing More Precious than a New Life | OB-GYN Services ft. The Johnson Family

South Central Obstetrics & Gynecology

The journey of parenthood is different for every family. At South Central Regional Medical Center (SCRMC), our goal is to achieve a healthy pregnancy and delivery, in a safe and encouraging environment. Our physicians are experienced in the management of pregnancies and feel privileged to be a part of growing families. B. Michael Weber, MD, Obstetrician-Gynecologist at South Central Obstetrics & Gynecology, has practiced for over 28 years at SCRMC and delivered over 4,500 babies to local parents.

Dr. Weber states, “to serve as a physician in the field of obstetrics is very rewarding. It is probably why I chose this specialty. Obstetrics appealed to me because I was able to help patients do something in their lives that was exciting. The ultimate gift for our team is to see mom, dad and baby together. It is like waiting for Christmas. It is a happy moment for everyone involved.”

Local residents, Jason and Daphne Johnson, remember the journey of parenthood vividly. Daphne states, “From the beginning of our relationship, we always said we wanted a large family. The excitement and joy of three children is more than we could have ever expected. Our three sons are Henry (6), George (3) and our newest edition, William (3 months).”

“It has been great to raise a family in Laurel,” said Jason. “We are near family and friends, enjoy time outside playing sports and genuinely enjoy participating in activities available in our community.”

When Daphne found out she was pregnant with William, the older siblings requested a sister. However, they gained another brother in the middle of a pandemic. “It was a strange time because we found out we were pregnant in the midst of COVID-19. We were not sure how the process would go with doctor visits or delivery, but the staff at South Central Obstetrics & Gynecology and South Central’s Maternal Child department provide fantastic care and treated us like we were part of their family,” said Daphne.

Due to increased COVID-19 rates, visitation was restricted at SCRMC at the time of William’s arrival. “The older brothers were anxiously awaiting their new brother. We used FaceTime to let the brothers and our parents meet William.”

South Central’s Maternal Child department prides itself in educating the parents in newborn care and postpartum care. “Our facility is state-of-the-art,” said Dr. Weber. “We use the most up-to-date science, while using a home-like environment for families. Our staff at our OB-GYN clinics and Maternal Child department are trained in the latest practices and work to help guide patients on the journey of newborn life.”

SCRMC offers six labor rooms, 2 c-section suites, and outpatient rooms for patients who may be experiencing pre-labor complaints. “Labor can be an adventure,” said Dr. Weber. “We strive to be trustworthy, comforting and offer stability.”

Daphne and Jason closed by stating, “Having a delivery at South Central could not have gone any better. There was no aspect that was left out. From beginning to end, each area we interacted with took excellent care of our family. We would recommend the hospital and OB-GYN clinics to anyone who is on the journey to parenthood. Dr. Weber is a great, down-to-Earth physician. His approach relieved any stress we may have felt bringing a baby into the world. I could not think of a better place to receive care.”
