Influenza, commonly known as the flu, is a respiratory illness that appears most frequently in winter and early spring. The flu is extremely contagious and most often spreads from person to person through coughing or sneezing. Certain groups of people are more susceptible to the flu and should be vaccinated. The flu vaccine is available at South Central Urgent Care in Laurel and other South Central clinics.
