SCRMC HealthBreak | Men’s Depression

Posted on March 26, 2018

Depression is a normal human reaction to a stressful event, and it can include a feeling of being overwhelmed, irritable, and hopeless. Brett Catrer, a therapist at South Central Behavioral Health Services says that these feelings can be exceptionally hard to handle. Brett says that one of the reasons men struggle with depression is that they often keep their feelings to themselves. Many men don’t want to feel weak, but Brett says that coming in to sit and talk with someone isn’t weak, it shows your strength. The worst thing you can do if you are struggling with depression is to suppress it, because the feelings will keep bubbling up.
