Concussions are very serious injuries and can be life-threatening.

Dr. Derrick L. Burgess, MD, explains that it is important for athletes to treat concussions appropriately because it can cause long-term injuries.

South Jones quarterback Will Mitchell suffered his first concussion during a game. “We were doing kick-off…there was this big pile, and went running in head-first. And I don’t remember much after that.”

Will further states: “One or two football games isn’t as important as your life.”
