South Central Regional Medical Center has a new sports medicine physician, Dr. Derrick Burgess, who is leading South Central’s Sports Medicine and Performance Enhancement programs. Laurel is now home to South Central Regional Medical Center’s first fellowship trained sports medicine specialist, Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Derrick Burgess. Dr. Burgess came to South Central to lead the sports medicine program, which is designed to treat a variety of athletic conditions. South Central Regional Medical Center will host a giant health fair, free to the public, on Thursday, July 17, in the Jones County Junior College gym. Those attending will participate in a variety of free health screenings. There will also be free health information, giveaways, and healthy snacks available.
