SCRMC HealthBreak | TGIF Program

Posted on April 11, 2016

Jenny Lacey, coordinator of Teens Getting Involved for the Future, explains that the program is a group of 11th and 12th-grade students that get together to teach 7th-graders about abstinence, leadership skills, peer pressure, and some of the effects of drugs and alcohol.

Jenny teaches the 11th and 12th-grade students the curriculum that they will be teaching in turn to the 7th-grade students. School nurses will be available during the sessions as well to answer any questions that arise.

All 7th graders must have a signed permission slip to participate in the TGIF educational session. The teen pregnancy rate is dropping in Jones County as a result of the program.
