Dr. Joel Shores is glad to be back home and taking care of patients in Laurel at South Central Regional Medical Center.  Since age five, he’s known he wanted to be a physician.  His mom is over the laboratory at the hospital.  After graduating from Northeast High School, he went to Jones County Junior College, then to the University of Southern Mississippi to finish his undergraduate degree, and he went to the University of Mississippi Medical Center to finish medical school and complete his residency in internal medicine.  He is a hospitalist, meaning he takes care of patients when they are admitted into the hospital.  He says that his goal is to take care of all of his patients.
