South Central Regional Medical Center’s Women’s and Children’s Place was honored to receive a donation for pediatric patients from Junior Auxiliary of Laurel. A division of Junior Auxiliary is Crown Club, a group of female, high school students that volunteer and serve in Laurel and Jones County. As a service project for the 2016-17 year, Junior Auxiliary’s Crown Club raised donations to supply 93 DVDs to the pediatric patients at South Central Regional Medical Center.

The 37 Crown Club members were involved in carrying out the project entitled, “Movies for Memories”. After discussing the need with Connie Landrum, RN, Women’s and Children’s Services Director at SCRMC, members had an understanding as to what types of movies were needed for patients. Each newly sealed movie was donated, with a total of 93 movies given.
“When the project was presented to SCRMC, Junior Auxiliary’s Crown Club automatically knew “Movies for Memories” was the best way to provide service to our community and reach children in need,” said Amy Jordan, Crown Club Chair and Junior Auxiliary Active Member. “This service project touched Crown Club as much as it did those receiving.”
Connie Landrum, states, “SCRMC’s Women’s and Children’s Place is grateful for the donation made by Junior Auxiliary’s Crown Club. It is very rewarding to see youth in our community touching the lives of other children. The patients in the Pediatric Unit at SCRMC have benefited from the DVDs. It allows children to find enjoyment while they are receiving treatment. We sincerely thank Crown Club for their donation to South Central Regional Medical Center.”
