Dr. David Harrison, medical director at the hospitalist program at South Central Regional Medical Center, explains, “Heart failure is a general term that is used to refer to a heart condition that is caused by a number of factors.” The following are symptoms of heart failure: shortness of breath, weakness during basic activities, swelling of the legs, chest pain, and shortness of breath while lying down.
