A hysterectomy is the removal of the uterus. There are many reasons a hysterectomy is performed, and with advanced technology, procedure and recovery time are minimal. Erica Welch came and talked to Dr. Rebecca Roberts about having a hysterectomy because of discomfort and pain. The procedure was a da Vinci robot assisted hysterectomy. Performing the hysterectomy using the robot allowed Erica Welch to have the surgery with three small incisions, which led to less blood loss and less disruption of tissue during surgery.
