South Central Regional Medical Center Honors Thomas H. Blake, Jr., MD, Orthopaedic Surgeon, at Retirement Reception

South Central Regional Medical Center physicians, staff and guests celebrated the retirement of Dr. Thomas H. Blake, Jr., a long time orthopaedic surgeon at South Central Regional Medical Center, on Tuesday, June 19, 2019.

Dr. Blake completed his undergraduate degree at Princeton University in 1964; Medical School at Tulane University Medical College in 1968; a residency in general surgery at Methodist Hospital in 1972; and a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Campbell Clinic in 1975.

Dr. Blake was appointed to the medical staff of Jones County Community Hospital (now South Central Regional Medical Center) in February of 1976 and has worked here since that time making large contributions to the medical staff and hospital.

Dr. Blake is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He served on the Claims Committee for the Medical Assurance Company of Mississippi and has also served on numerous committees within SCRMC over the years.

When asked how old he was when he knew he wanted to be an orthopaedic surgeon, he said, 27 years old. His father, Dr. Thomas H. Blake, was the first orthopaedic surgeon in Mississippi.
