SCRMC Offers Employment Options for Nurses in Long-Term Care: ComfortCare Nursing Center and Jones County Rest Home

Building relationships, providing care for others when they cannot care for themselves and life experiences are often gained when working with elderly patients. If you are looking to become a registered nurse, a licensed practical nurse or a certified nursing assistant, South Central Regional Medical Center has a place for you. SCRMC owns and operates two long-term care facilities, ComfortCare Nursing Center (CCNC) and Jones County Rest Home (JCRH). These facilities provide patient care in a residential styled environment. The long-term care facilities provide 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Stephanie Dyess, RN, Director of Nursing at JCRH explains the many benefits. “In long-term care, we offer several different opportunities for RNs, LPNs, and CNAs throughout our two facilities. There is a lot of room for growth. In 2007, I started as an LPN, and I was encouraged to return to nursing school to become a RN. I was offered a scholarship opportunity and without the scholarship, I would not have been able to return to nursing school. It was really important for me to be able to go back and continue my education.”

SCRMC offers a comprehensive benefit package for employees, including: tuition reimbursement for full time employees, scholarship opportunities for nursing, medical/dental insurance, long-term disability, cancer plan, wellness/fitness center, daycare center, earned time off/sick time, competitive wages and an excellent work environment.

“On the hardest day, I would not choose to work anywhere else,” said Dyess. “It is very personal to be a caregiver in a long-term care facility. You grow to love the residents, their families and your co-workers. They all become family.”

Carmen McMillian, RN, Assistant Director of Nursing at JCRH explains her passion for working in long-term care. “You are constantly learning not only new roles, but new techniques and using new technology in the medical field. It is continuously growing. Working with residents at a long-term care facility has made an impact on my life. This is their home, and we are working for them. My favorite part of the job is seeing the resident live a happy life to the fullest at our facility. I go home each day and know I have helped others. That makes me proud.”

ComfortCare Nursing Center and Jones County Rest Home offer the following amenities to residents: spa activities, gardening, arts and crafts, quilting club, devotion and bible study, religious worship, birthday parties, weekly socials, restaurant style dining and much more. The long-term care facilities provide skilled nursing care, an on-call physician, licensed social workers, wound care specialists, dietary management team, mental health services, spiritual counseling, as well as physical, occupational and speech therapy services.

SCRMC invites you to join our family and experience an excellent place to work. Within our health system, we value commitment to our mission and our vision: respect for others, leadership and teamwork. The health system provides leadership and educational opportunities that allow you to use your skills, talent, and experience to provide excellent care and impact the lives of others in a community-like atmosphere.
