A cataract is a cloudiness or increasing opacity in the lens of the eye that typically develops as people age.

Dr. Sarah Queck, an ophthalmologist at South Central Eye & Laser Center, states that people will tend to notice problems seeing to drive at night or problems leaving, and that the only treatment for a cataract is the surgical removal of a cataract.

Once a cataract is removed, a lens implant is installed. “Most patients notice that they do have better vision after the cataract surgery than really they did in prior years,” states Queck.
