Posted on December 26, 2022

2022 has been a year of celebration. The South Central Regional Medical Center health system celebrated its 70th anniversary. In 1952, Jones County Community Hospital had 58 employees who worked in the 105 bed hospital. Over the years, the hospital has emerged into a large health system with more than 2,100 employees and over 125 healthcare providers within the organization that serve residents of Jones County and surrounding areas.

The health system of SCRMC continued to see growth during the year. South Central expanded its Intensive Care Unit, added a new Rehabilitation facility, expanded services to new communities, upgraded technology throughout the health system and added new medical providers to our team. These providers included a hospitalist, internal medicine physicians, emergency medicine physicians, an orthopedic surgeon, a sleep medicine specialist, and a pulmonologist.

Healthcare is constantly evolving and at South Central in Laurel, the goal of the health system is to offer the highest quality of care with the latest technology to provide excellent care to our community. By providing new facilities and technology, a commitment to quality healthcare, exceptionally trained physicians and staff, and a focus on improving community health, South Central Regional Medical Center will continue to serve as the cornerstone of healthcare in Jones County and the surrounding areas.

From our family to yours, we wish you a healthy and Happy New Year in 2023!
