SCRMC HealthBreak | Lung Cancer Screening

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer related death in the United States. It is almost completely preventable by ceasing smoking. Now, low dose radiation CT scanning is available to identify cancerous cells very early. This allows healthcare providers to have more options for treating the patient if cancer is found.

Patients who are eligible for Lung Cancer Screening are:

  • Active Smokers
  • Between the ages of 50 and 77
  • AND have a 20 pack or greater history of smoking
  • OR Stopped smoking less than 15 years before now
