Rennette Barnes, a long-time SCRMC Food Services Department employee, is the perfect example of an excellent care giver; and SCRMC is pleased to name her as the Employee of the Quarter for Quarter 2 of 2024.
Barnes and her husband Ray have called the Pine Belt home for many years. Barnes, who began working at SCRMC in July of 1993, has worked in various capacities within the Food Services Department; and she is cross trained in various positions throughout the kitchen.
“She is the absolute best employee you could ever ask for,” said her supervisor, Johnny McDonald, Director of Food Services. “She is valuable in so many ways. She does her job to the finest without having to be asked.”
The process of choosing who receives the Employee of the Quarter distinction begins with an internal nomination process, which is open to any SCRMC staff member who wishes to submit a peer for consideration. Then the winner is chosen through an anonymous numbers-based voting process by a committee of individuals from across the organization. Barnes was chosen out of a pool of nearly 200 nominations for quarter two.
Barnes’ receival of her award perfectly exemplified her humble and appreciative demeanor. When she walked into the hospital reception area and was welcomed by the sound of coworkers clapping for her, she quickly moved from view not expecting to be recognized for such an honor.
Barnes has been graciously serving SCRMC for three decades, and the organization is grateful for the impact her kindness has made in the lives of innumerable patients, customers and coworkers.
