SCRMC Q4 Employee of the Quarter: Brian Milligan, Plant Operations

Posted on February 24, 2025

As one of the leading employers in Jones County, South Central employs over 2,300 people. They employ not only physicians, nurses and other trained medical professionals but also skilled tradespeople, who work daily to maintain, repair and update all hospital facilities.

Brian Milligan is a Laurel native who first began working in SCRMC’s Plant Operations Department in 2009. When he was first hired, he almost exclusively changed ceiling tiles. Throughout the years, however, he has acquired many technical skills.

“He is an extremely skilled craftsman,” said Stanley Coco, SCRMC’s Plant Operations Director. “He can do anything including flooring, wall covering, painting and woodworking.”

Brian has had a hand in several major projects at South Central throughout the years but in the past several months he has helped complete the total renovation of the Nursing Administration Office and the Graduate Medical Education Suite.

“It’s truly an honor to be named employee of the quarter,” said Brian. “To even be considered is an honor. I am overwhelmed with gratitude. When I started here it was just a job, but it turned into a career and so much more.”

Over the past 15 years Brian has become an integral member of the team, serving as an example to the rest of the staff.

The process of choosing who receives the Employee of the Quarter distinction begins with an internal nomination process, which is open to any member of the SCRMC staff who wishes to submit a peer for consideration. Then the winner is chosen through an anonymous numbers-based voting process by a committee of individuals from across the organization.

The four individuals who have been chosen as employees of the quarter throughout the past year will be eligible for employee of the year, which will be announced during hospital week in May 2025.

SCRMC is grateful for the years of important work that Brian has done for the organization and is proud to commend him on a job well done.
