South Central Regional Medical Center is proud to announce the appointment of Greg Baldwin as its new Chief Human Resources Officer. With nearly 30 years of progressive leadership in Mississippi’s healthcare sector, Baldwin brings a wealth of experience, strategic insight and a servant-leader philosophy to this vital role.
Baldwin most recently served as Director of Human Resources at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center, where he led HR operations for more than 3,000 employees across a 570-bed hospital and 23 affiliated clinics. His tenure was marked by the development of high-performing HR systems, the implementation of customer-focused services and support for Mississippi’s only Magnet-recognized hospital for nursing excellence.
Prior to that, Baldwin held senior HR leadership roles at Pioneer Health Systems and Rush Health System, where he directed multi-state HR strategies, facilitated mergers and acquisitions, and championed leadership development across critical access hospitals, behavioral health services and outpatient clinics.
Baldwin earned his Master of Science in applied psychology from the University of Baltimore and a Bachelor of Art in psychology from the University of Alabama. A longtime advocate for professional development, he was the founding president of the East Central Mississippi Human Resources Association and has held several certifications, including a Senior Professional in Human Resources certification and the Certified in Healthcare Human Resources credential from the American Hospital Association.
“We are excited to welcome Greg to the team, and we are confident that his years of experience, attention to detail and genuine desire to serve others will improve our organization,” said SCRMC President and CEO Gregg Gibbes.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Baldwin is deeply rooted in the Laurel community. His family has been faithful members of Audubon Drive Bible Church for 18 years, contributed as a Board Member of the Laurel Christian Food Mission for 10 years and has been affiliated with Laurel Christian Home Educators for nine years. His commitment to service reflects a genuine dedication to the people and values of Laurel.
“I believe that South Central is a special place filled with talented people. I look forward to contributing to the progressive efforts to cultivate a workplace where people feel valued, inspired and empowered to deliver compassionate, connected care to our patients.” Baldwin said.
Greg and his wife, Julie, have been married for 29 years, and they have five children – Walt, Daniel, Rachel, Davis and Rebekah. Walt and Daniel are in school at Bryan College and Jones College, respectively. Rachel will be at Jones next fall. The Baldwins will be relocating from Magee to Laurel and look forward to being a part of the community.
Baldwin brings not only expertise but heart to his work. His appointment reflects South Central’s ongoing commitment to cultivating a thriving workforce, comprised of employees who are dedicated to delivering compassionate, connected care.
