Falling at any age can be painful, but for elderly individuals, it can be debilitating. According to the National Institute on Aging, “Nearly one in four adults, age 65 or older, fall each year.”
Here are some easy tips to prevent falls:

Make your home safer:

Use railings when going up and down stairs.

Add appropriate assistance devices in the bedroom and bathroom

Remove rugs and other trip hazards

Dress wisely

Limit accessories to keep your hands free

Wear sensible shoes

Stay Fit

It is important to continue exercising as you age. Focus on exercise that improves balance and stability.

Get enough sleep

Speak with a healthcare professional

Have you hearing, eyesight, blood sugar and blood pressure checked often

Tell your healthcare professional if you think you might need any medical devices

Know if your medications have any side effects
