The national “Let’s Move!” campaign says that children should get a total of 60 minutes of physical activity each day, and that adults should get 30 minutes.

Kirk Landrum, Coordinator of Well & Sports Medicine at SCRMC, says that one of the goals in the new Family Fit and Wellness Kids program is to teach them that exercise is not always a grind.  “If we can get our kids started in exercise program in that 6 to 13 year old age range, and also have the parents involved with that, we believe it will help the children carry on those exercise traits as they get older.”

The program also has a nutritional component to teach kids about health nutrition so that they can carry on that knowledge from an early age.
