One of Epic’s most transformative tools, MyChart, will soon make its debut at South Central Regional Medical Center, Magee General Hospital, Covington County Hospital, Simpson General Hospital and Smith County Emergency Hospital.
MyChart, an online patient portal, enhances the patient experience by offering timely, secure access to health information, test results, appointment details and direct connection to your care team.
MyChart is accessible on a desktop or other smart device, which means patients can benefit from the following features from anywhere:
Streamline Appointments
Patients can use MyChart to complete required forms ahead of time, reducing paperwork and shortening wait times at the clinic.
Access Health Information
Patients can now access their health information from the privacy of their personal device. This increased access to medical records helps patients stay informed and up-to-date on their health care, such as immunizations.
MyChart also gives patients access to their appointment summaries and timely viewing access to all available imaging results, bloodwork results and prescribed medications.
Pay Bills Online
MyChart helps simplify the billing process by allowing patients to see itemized statements and pay their bills online.
Patients can request estimates for services and apply for payment plans for charges.
Communicate With Your Care Team
MyChart enables patients to privately send health questions to their provider and receive a timely response.
Prescription refill requests can be done with just a few clicks. Patients can also track the status of refill requests and update their pharmacy preferences.
Manage Dependent’s Health Information
MyChart supports families by making it easier to stay informed about the health care of loved ones who may need assistance, such as: children, aging parents or other dependents. This feature is called proxy access.
Epic proxy access (via MyChart) lets permitted individuals view and manage another person’s health information.
Signing up for MyChart
Epic officially goes live across the consortium on Jan. 31, bringing this wide array of features to South Central and its consortium partners.
“MyChart marks a major step forward in patient‑centered care, setting the stage for a more connected and convenient health care experience,” MyChart and Welcome Analyst Cursten Newsome said. “The process of signing up is quick and easy.”
There are several sign-up methods for MyChart, and patients can choose which method works best for them. It is important to note that if a patient already has an existing MyChart account with another organization outside of the South Central consortium, they will need to make a new one for South Central Regional Medical Center, Simpson General Hospital, Magee General Hospital or Covington County Hospital.

Staff members across the consortium are here to help streamline this sign-up process, making it as simple as possible for patients to complete the process. Patients will be able to begin signing up for MyChart starting Jan. 31.
