South Central Diabetic Support Group

During the COVID-19 pandemic, South Central’s Diabetic Support Group has not met. However, our support staff is still available to help. The goal of the Diabetic Support Group is to help those living with diabetes learn how to manage, live and cope with this disease.

Greg Stueve, RN, CDE, Diabetes Education Leader, stated, “By motivating each other and lending support, our community is able to come together to celebrate the successes and work through the struggles of living with diabetes. The group shares ideas, recipes, tips, and occasionally laughter and tears.”

Through this difficult time of unknown circumstances, the South Central Diabetic Support Group wants to keep our community safe and healthy, and also provide assistance as needed. Stueve stated, “We are working on ways to develop other means of communication with the Diabetic Support Group. We encourage those who may have any needs or questions to reach out by calling 601-426-4934 or 601-426-4700.”

Stueve closed by reminding those living with diabetes the importance of overall health. He stated, “As always, it is important to eat a well-balanced diet, keep your blood sugars controlled, get some physical activity, take your medications as directed and follow up with your healthcare provider as needed.”

The South Central Diabetic Support group met monthly for educational sessions, however meetings have been postponed due to COVID-19. Educators encourage all who need support to call the Diabetic Support office at South Central Regional Medical, Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. To call, please dial 601-426-4934 or 601-426-4700.
