Lauren Thompson, RN, has been a member of the South Central Regional Medical Center family for four years. Lauren, who is a Jones County native, works on the Telemetry floor at SCRMC. She is a graduate of Jones College Nursing Program. Lauren started her journey at SCRMC in the laboratory and transferred to telemetry unit while in nursing school. After completion of nursing school and receiving her licensure, she transitioned from a nurse tech to registered nurse in February of 2023.

“I became a nurse because I have always loved to help people,” says Lauren. “Being able to see a person recover after being extremely sick means a lot to me. Also knowing that I played a role in their improvement is a really great feeling. I find joy in my role because I am able to talk to patients, form relationships, and provide them resources to improve their quality of life.

As a telemetry nurse, Lauren provides treatment to patients experiencing chest pain, post cardiac arrest, heart failure, and other health issues. “I absolutely love what I do and the team I work with,” says Lauren. “I chose South Central because the people I work with make the bad days better. Being a caregiver can be difficult; however, we have a great staff, from physicians to techs, that offer excellent care.”

I feel like this really showed the health system’s commitment to me. The staff helped me through nursing school and prepared me for the journey to become a nurse. After I completed school and passed my exams, I joined South Central as a Registered Nurse.”
