I chose South Central because we work as a team.
Hollie Brooks, LPN II, has been a member of the South Central Regional Medical Center family for 3 years. Hollie, who is a Jones County native, works in the Emergency Department as a LPN II. To advance her career, she enrolled in the RN Bridge Program at Jones College and will graduate as a registered nurse in May of 2024.
As an Emergency Department (ED) nurse, Hollie experiences new patient situations each day. She stated, “In the ED, we deal with a lot of different types of care, which could be minor care situations or trauma circumstances. The great thing about the department is that everyone works together as a team. From triage to nursing services, the medical staff, radiology, pharmacy and paramedics, are all incorporated into providing the best possible care to the patient. I chose South Central because we work together as a team.”
South Central’s Emergency Department is staffed 24 hours a day with specially trained medical emergency personnel. The facility has a comprehensive triage system that ensures the patients with the most serious conditions are treated first. The new emergency department opened in December of 2019 and has 21 rooms, 6 fast-track treatment rooms and 3 trauma rooms, as well as additional services to provide the highest quality of care for patients in a timely manner.
Hollie stated, “Being a nurse allows me to offer compassion to individuals during a vulnerable time in their lives. I felt that this career path was truly a calling for me. I am excited to advance my career and serve as a RN in the Emergency Department after completion of my program.”
