Specializing in the management of hospitalized patients, a Hospitalist is an acute care physician who focuses on a patient’s hospital care from admission until discharge. During that time the Hospitalist supervises a plan of coordinated care among physicians, nurses and support staff. Hospitalists spend most of their professional time in the hospital and are well positioned and uniquely committed to improving the care of hospitalized patients. Exceptional patient satisfaction is a key outcome that should result from the care provided by hospitalists. This caring and concern for patients is exemplified by attentiveness, dignity and respect, effective communication of information and shared medical decision making. The hospitalists at South Central Regional Medical Center welcome the opportunity to care for you.
How Does the Hospitalist Program Work? A 24-Hour, 7-Day Program of Care
Step One
A Primary Care Physician may choose to refer patients to a Hospitalist to provide inpatient care for them.
Step Two
Your doctor will contact our Hospitalist, who will then admit you to the hospital and begin your care through a coordinated plan among physicians, nurses and support staff.
Step Three
During your stay at SCRMC, the Hospitalist keeps in close contact with your Primary Care Physician. Hospitalists may also be asked to provide consultation by surgeons and other specialists.
Step Four
